CCNA

Cisco Certified Network Associate


The CCNA stands for Cisco Certified Network Associate, a certification from the Cisco, Inc. In speech and in writing, this certification is properly referred to by the initials CCNA rather than the full name.


The CCNA certification is a second-level certification in the path of Cisco certifications. This certification from the Cisco validates the ability of certified professionals to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot the medium-size routed and switched networks, including the implementation and verification of the network connections to a remote sites in a wide area network (WAN).


To achieve the CCNA certification, one must achieve a passing score on the Cisco exam # 640-802. The alternate is to combined passing scores on both the ICND1 # 640-822 and ICND2 # 640-816 exams. By passing the ICND1 certification exam, you can become  the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT). The passing scores are set by using statistical analysis and are subject to change by Cisco. At the time of completion of the exam, the candidates receive a score report along with a breakout of scores by exam sections and the passing score for the given exam. The Cisco does not publish the exam passing scores because exam questions and the passing scores are subject to change without notice.


The CCNA validates your ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot the medium-size enterprise level routers and switched networks. This includes design implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a wide area network (WAN). The new CCNA training includes the basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to the wireless networking and voice.


These exams are conducted by authorized testing centers at a cost of US$125 each for the ICND1 and ICND2 exams and US$250 for the composite CCNA exam.




CCNA Paths


At the Cisco CCNA level, The CCNA certified individuals are specialized in specific technologies. All specialized tracks require an individual to successfully pass and maintain the CCNA certification.


CCNA Security


The CCNA Security validates knowledge of the security infrastructure, threats and vulnerabilities to computer networks, and threat mitigation. The CCNA skills include installation, monitoring and troubleshooting of the network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data & devices, and develop the competency in "Cisco IOS Network Security"


This certification can be earned by passing the IINS 640-553 (Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security, or IINS) exam. The price of this exam is US$250.


CCNA Voice


The Voice Certification of Cisco CCNA validates a skill set for specialized job roles in voice technologies, such as voice technologies manager, voice engineer, and voice administrator. The CCNA Voice certification involves the implementation of the Cisco IOS Unified Communications. It also validates the skills in VoIP technologies such as IP PBX, IP telephony, handsets, call controls, and solutions for voicemail. The candidates also get exposure to the Cisco Unified Communications architecture & design covering mobility, presence, and Tele-Presence applications.


The CCNA Voice certification can be earned by passing the 640-460 IUC (Implementing Cisco IOS Unified Communications) or 642-436 CVOICE (Cisco Voice Over IP) exams.


CCNA Wireless


The CCNA Wireless certification validates the comprehensive knowledge of professionals who supporting the wireless LANs including the Networking Associates/ Administrators, Wireless Support Specialists and project managers of WLAN. The CCNA Wireless certification involves the implementation of Cisco Unified Wireless Networking Essentials.


The CCNA Wireless Certification validates the candidate's skills in configuration, implementation and support of the wireless LANs, specifically those networks using the Cisco equipment. The students who completing the recommended Cisco training are provided with the information and practice activities to prepare them for configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting the basic tasks of a Cisco WLAN in SMB and Enterprise networks. The employers will be able to validate the staff of their company to have the skills needed for the basic wireless networking on a Cisco WLAN in SMB and enterprise networks after completing the CCNA Wireless certification.


The CCNA Wireless certification can be earned by passing the 640-721 IUWNE (Implementing Cisco Unified Wireless Networking Essentials) exams.


CCNA Routing & Switching


The Cisco CCNA Routing & Switching certification validates the ability of professionals to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot the medium-size routed and switched networks. The required skills include making connections to remote sites via a wide area network (WAN), mitigating the basic security threats, and understanding the requirements for wireless network access.


This certification can be earned by passing the 640-822 ICND1 (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) and 640-816 ICND2 (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 (ICND2)) or 640-802 the CCNA composite exam. The price of the ICND1 and ICND2 exam is US$125 for each and US$250 for the CCNA composite exam.


CCNA Service Provider Operations


The Cisco CCNA Service Provider Operations validates the basic knowledge and skills of professionals in a prescriptive troubleshooting environment within a carrier class IP NGN core network infrastructure.

This certification can be earned by passing the 640-822 ICND1 (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) and 640-760 SSPO (Supporting Cisco Service Provider IP NGN Operations (SSPO) ) and possess any valid Cisco CCNA certification. The price of the each exam is US$125.
